This smartly tailored James Galanos 1950's day dress is the perfect mixture of fluidity and structure! Galanos' genius was ahead of his time, and this piece, though tailored in the 50's, comes across as completely modern with it's funnel shoulder over blouse and black buttons up the back, covering a simple tank top and gently gathered bias cut skirt. The self fabric tie belt cinches this relaxed yet totally put together look. The hem line is unusual in that it is ever-so-slightly bubbled and stitched to a separate tulle lining without a crease. The whole ensemble is fashioned from a fine wool in a tiny black and white hounds tooth that appears to be gray from any distance.
