Mohair and Bakelite Handbag by Morris Moskowitz
USA

Morris Moskowitz specialized in fabric bags prior to the '70s. This rare and capacious purse is one of our favorites. It combines a deep orange red mohair with a gutsy twisted bakelite handle. C. 1940-50.

It has a zippered entry with a bakelite teardrop-shaped pull on the reverse.

The interior is lined with brown faille fabric with an attached matching change purse.

NOTE: Height, including handle is 17".

Price
$395

Condition
Excellent, near-mint. It doesn't look like it was ever used. Over the years it was stored properly in a cedar closet and did not suffer from moth damage. The bakelite is in perfect condition, with no warping, odors, etc.
